Snow Man's AMENITY Tops One Million in First Week, Tying B'z Album Record

A Million Copies and a Record Shared With B'z

Snow Man's AMENITY sold 1,014,000 copies in its opening week on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking, giving the nine member group its fifth consecutive album to pass one million sales in its first week. The result ties B'z for the longest such run in Oricon history and makes Snow Man only the second act to reach that mark.

Released by MENT RECORDING on October 7, 2026, AMENITY also became Snow Man's seventh consecutive and seventh total album to reach No. 1 on the weekly ranking. The result was announced on October 13, covered sales from October 5 through October 11, and appeared on the chart dated October 19.

A separate album sales chart recorded an even larger opening total. Billboard JAPAN's Top Albums Sales ranking, published October 14 for the same tracking period, placed AMENITY first with 1,034,078 copies. Both counts put the release above one million, although their totals should not be treated as interchangeable.

The achievement brings together three distinct measures of Snow Man's success: an uninterrupted sequence of weekly No. 1 albums, five consecutive releases selling a million copies within their opening weeks, and seven consecutive albums reaching a million in cumulative sales from the group's debut album onward. The last of those extends a record Snow Man already held alone.

What the Five Album Streak Means

AMENITY follows i DO ME, RAYS, THE BEST 2020 - 2025 and 音故知新 in Snow Man's sequence of albums that sold more than one million copies in their first week. The record concerns consecutive album releases meeting that threshold, not five consecutive calendar weeks of million selling activity.

B'z previously reached five consecutive opening weeks above one million with B'z The “Mixture,” on the Oricon chart dated March 6, 2000. Snow Man's result comes 26 years and seven months later. It is the first time another act has matched that run and the first such achievement in the Reiwa era, which Oricon counts from its chart dated May 13, 2019.

The distinction between matching and breaking the record matters. Snow Man now shares first place with B'z for consecutive albums with opening sales above one million. AMENITY does not establish a six album streak or give the group sole ownership of that particular record.

Oricon also identifies AMENITY as the first album to achieve a million sales in its opening week during the current chart year. That reporting year began with the chart dated December 22, 2025, rather than January 1, 2026. The claim therefore refers to Oricon's chart calendar.

Two Charts, Two Sales Totals

Oricon's reported opening total of 1,014,000 copies is 20,078 below the 1,034,078 recorded by Billboard JAPAN. The difference is about 2% of the Oricon figure. It does not change the central outcome: AMENITY ranked first and exceeded one million sales under both counts.

A separate Oricon weekly chart notice, dated May 4, 2026 and covering April 20 through April 26, states that “domestic and imported editions are combined.” It does not provide Snow Man's sales figures or establish the reason for the difference between these October totals.

Although the charts cover the same October 5 to October 11 period, they are separate rankings. The reports do not explain the precise reason for the gap. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe one figure as a correction of the other, combine them into a new total, or use figures from the two charts as though they came from one dataset.

The record tying five album streak is specifically an Oricon achievement. Billboard JAPAN's result provides a separate measure of the release's sales, but it is not the basis for the historical comparison with B'z.

These are album sales counts, not counts of individual listeners. They do not establish how many different people bought AMENITY, how many purchased more than one edition, or how often its songs were streamed. Those distinctions are especially relevant for a release with several editions and different additional content.

How the Opening Week Developed

AMENITY's sales began before its formal October 7 release date. Its arrival in stores on October 6 produced 766,000 copies on Oricon's daily album chart, where it entered at No. 1. The daily result was reported on October 7, but it measured purchases on October 6.

That first daily count represents roughly 75.5% of the reported Oricon opening week total. Using the published figures, the remainder of the tracking week contributed about 248,000 copies. The calculation shows that purchases were concentrated at the start, while substantial sales continued afterward.

Billboard JAPAN's preview for October 5 through October 7 recorded 874,996 copies. Its final weekly total was 159,082 higher, an increase of about 18.2% over the preview count. This comparison stays within the same chart and gives a separate picture of the sales added during the latter part of the week.

  • October 5, 2026: The weekly sales tracking period began.
  • October 6: AMENITY arrived in stores and sold 766,000 copies on Oricon's daily count.
  • October 7: The album was formally released; Billboard JAPAN's preview period ended with 874,996 sales.
  • October 11: The weekly tracking period closed.
  • October 13: The Oricon weekly result was announced.
  • October 14: Billboard JAPAN published its weekly album sales ranking.
  • October 19: The date assigned to the Oricon weekly chart carrying the result.

Seven Million Sellers From the Debut Album

The five consecutive opening week million sellers sit within a longer sequence. Every Snow Man album counted from Snow Mania S1 through AMENITY has now exceeded one million copies in cumulative Oricon sales. That makes seven consecutive million selling albums from the debut, extending the group's sole all time record in that category.

Cumulative sales are the copies accumulated over an album's chart life, rather than just its first week. Snow Mania S1 and Snow Labo. S2 belong to the seven album cumulative sequence, but not to the five album opening week sequence that begins with i DO ME.

The Oricon chart dates on which those seven releases reached the cumulative milestone show the progression:

  • Snow Mania S1: October 3, 2022.
  • Snow Labo. S2: January 9, 2023.
  • i DO ME: May 29, 2023.
  • RAYS: November 11, 2024.
  • THE BEST 2020 - 2025: February 3, 2025.
  • 音故知新: November 17, 2025.
  • AMENITY: October 19, 2026.

AMENITY is described as Snow Man's sixth album release in the studio album sequence, while the chart record counts seven album titles, including THE BEST 2020 - 2025. The different numbers reflect the inclusion of that collection in the sales record, rather than a disagreement about the latest release's chart position.

A Fictional Hotel Shapes the Music

AMENITY is built around HOTEL ALL SUITE, a fictional hotel where Snow Man's members act as staff and guides delivering the songs. The concept connects the release's title, presentation and musical settings, rather than referring to an actual venue.

The album moves through several styles within that setting. ALL SUITE uses funk pop to portray an elegant hotel stay. 奇跡 focuses on a meeting with someone important and expresses that feeling directly, while GO HARD uses club music to announce the start of a lively party.

マドラー turns toward R&B and the ache of adult romance. The jazz pop track show time... adds another musical setting to the hotel concept. Its music video was reported to have passed 20 million views, although no precise measurement date was given.

That video figure is a separate measure of attention. Views cannot be added to album sales or treated as purchases, and they do not explain how much any individual song contributed to AMENITY's opening total. They do show that the album campaign extends beyond the copies counted by the sales charts.

What the Different Editions Include

Nine songs, including the lead track グッタイム, appear across all editions of AMENITY. The regular edition expands the selection to 14 tracks by adding material that includes songs performed by smaller combinations of members. It therefore contains five more tracks than the shared selection.

Limited editions A and B include Blu-ray or DVD content. The reported extras include music videos, footage showing their production, newly filmed variety content and videos offering multiple camera angles. Those editions give buyers different packages around the same core album.

The chart totals do not provide a breakdown of sales by edition. They therefore cannot establish whether the regular edition or either limited edition contributed most, or how much demand was associated with the additional songs and videos. The packaging is part of the release, but attributing the million selling result to any one extra would go beyond the published figures.

How Far AMENITY Led the Weekly Sales Chart

On Billboard JAPAN's album sales ranking, AMENITY finished well ahead of the other leading releases. Mrs. GREEN APPLE's POPS placed second with 26,029 copies, after topping the ranking published October 7. Inui Toko's second mini album, One day, followed in third with 20,158.

NEXZ's third Japanese EP, Hellmate, took fourth with 11,704 copies, and Jams Collection's fourth mini album, Jam Wonder, placed fifth with 9,309. Together, the four albums below AMENITY in the top five sold 67,200 copies during the week.

AMENITY's 1,034,078 copies were approximately 39.7 times the sales of second placed POPS. It accounted for about 93.9% of the combined 1,101,278 copies sold by those five albums. That share describes only the top five, not the entire Japanese album market.

The scale of the lead helps distinguish this result from a narrowly won No. 1. Yet the published figures remain confined to the opening tracking period. They do not establish AMENITY's eventual lifetime sales, its later chart positions, or whether Snow Man's next album will extend the opening week streak to six. No subsequent release date is identified in these reports.
