AsiaDaily.org (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is an independent news website run and hosted in the European Union. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process when you visit asiadaily.org and its language editions (the “Site”), why we process it, and what your rights are. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and French data protection law.

In short: you can read the Site without giving us any personal data. We only collect it if you subscribe to our newsletter or write to us. Some service providers also process limited data when you visit, as described below.

  • Newsletter: your name, your email address, the languages you choose, and a record of your consent.
  • Messages: your name, your email address and your message, when you write to us.
  • Legal and takedown requests: the information you include in them.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Technical data: such as your IP address, your browser and the pages you visit, used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
  • Analytics: statistics about how the Site is used, where you have agreed to it if consent is required.
  • Advertising: data used to show and measure advertisements, as described in section 5.

The Site has no reader accounts and no comments.

We do not share the personal data you give us, such as your newsletter address or your messages, with advertisers or anyone else, except where the law requires it.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

We use AI services to write and translate our articles. These services receive news material only: your messages, your email address and any other personal data about you are never sent to them.

Some cookies and similar technologies are needed for the Site to work and stay secure, and preferences you set on the Site, such as dark mode, are stored on your device. These do not require consent.

7.2 Advertising and Analytics

9. Data Security

Our servers are located in the European Union. All connections to the Site are encrypted, only authorized members of the Asia Daily team can access the personal data we hold, and we monitor the Site for security threats.

10. Data Retention

  • Technical data: kept for a short period for security, then deleted automatically
  • Analytics: kept for a limited period, at most 14 months
  • Newsletter: while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so that you are not emailed again; you can ask us to delete it entirely.
  • Messages: as long as needed to answer and follow up, and no longer than 2 years
  • Legal requests: as required by applicable law

11. Children’s Privacy

Our website provides general news and information suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 15 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and it will be deleted.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal or regulatory changes, or improvements to the Site. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last Updated” date.
