December concerts bring an early rush for rooms
Artotel's hotel in Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno area is already fully booked for the BTS ARIRANG concerts scheduled for December 26 and 27, 2026, according to Artotel Group chief operating officer Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego. The concerts fall directly after Christmas, putting demand from travelling fans alongside the year end holiday market.

Artotel plans to increase its average room rate by 5% to 7% compared with the same holiday period a year earlier. Eduard said the company was counting on Christmas and New Year travel to help make up for weaker business in other market segments during the year.
The combination creates two opportunities for hotels: holidaymakers who may extend their stays into the New Year, and concert visitors who want accommodation close to the stadium. Production crews, organisers and logistics teams can also need rooms before audiences arrive.
Eduard estimated that major events could add about 10% to hotel business, depending on the event and local market conditions. His assessment covers activity beyond the performance itself, including advance preparations and work around the venue.
BTS is scheduled to perform at Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno, commonly called SUGBK, inside the larger GBK sports complex in Senayan. The Jakarta shows form part of the group's return to performing together after all seven members completed South Korea's mandatory military service.
For fans coming from elsewhere in Indonesia or overseas, accommodation is becoming a substantial part of the concert budget. Ticket prices were listed from Rp1.8 million for CAT 3 to Rp4.5 million for a VIP Package, before tax and administration charges.
Two scheduled dates and a reported third show
Concert organiser iMe Indonesia announced the Jakarta performances for December 26 and 27. Information attributed to BIGHIT MUSIC through Weverse also places the performances at the main GBK stadium.
Tickets sold through Tiket.com were subsequently reported to have sold out, with strong demand prompting an additional performance and bringing the event to three days. The additional show's date was not given, while the stated schedule continued to list December 26 and 27. Fans arranging accommodation around a third performance therefore still need its calendar date.
The booking and concert milestones span several months:
- May 22, 2026: Registration opened for the Weverse ARMY Membership presale.
- June 10, 2026: Hotel prices on Tiket.com were checked for a stay covering December 26 to 27.
- December 26 and 27, 2026: The two dated Jakarta performances are scheduled at Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno.
The concerts have been described as BTS's first appearance as a complete group in Indonesia in nine years. Thousands of fans are expected to travel from other regions and abroad, giving hotels a potential audience beyond Jakarta residents attending the shows.
Why hotel demand extends beyond concert night
Eduard said the accommodation effect of a major concert can stretch roughly seven days around an event. Teams may arrive early to inspect the location, prepare equipment, organise logistics and handle permits.
A stadium performance requires more than the artists and the audience. People responsible for building and operating the production also need places to sleep while working in the host city. Their stays can begin before fans check in and continue around the performances.
Hotels near GBK can therefore draw bookings from several groups with different schedules. A fan might reserve a short stay around one performance, while a member of a preparation team may need accommodation across several working days.
Eduard's estimate of about 10% additional hotel business depends on the scale and character of each event, as well as demand already present in the surrounding market. In December, concert bookings will overlap with a holiday period that Artotel already regards as an important opportunity to sell rooms.
What the planned price increase means
Artotel's planned increase of 5% to 7% applies to its average room rate compared with the corresponding period last year. Average room rate describes the average amount received for a room sold, helping a hotel track its pricing alongside the proportion of rooms occupied.
Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego, Artotel Group's chief operating officer, described the intended increase in restrained terms. Translated from Indonesian, he said:
We are raising it by around 5% to 7% from last year. We do not dare go as far as 10%.
For a simple illustration, a comparable average rate of Rp1 million would become Rp1.05 million with a 5% increase, or Rp1.07 million with a 7% increase. Individual bookings will depend on the property, room type, date and availability.
Artotel also uses dynamic pricing, meaning room prices change as demand and the number of available rooms change. A hotel can adjust its rate as bookings build, rather than charge the same amount throughout the sales period.
Eduard said the company would avoid excessive increases when rooms became scarce. He specifically rejected suddenly selling rooms for Rp8 million or Rp10 million to take advantage of strong demand.
The company has also identified the possible resale of rooms or vouchers by other parties as a challenge when accommodation is booked well ahead of a major event. Such transactions add another layer to a market where fans are already competing for limited rooms near the venue.
Walking distance carries a premium
ARTOTEL Gelora Senayan Jakarta was listed about 140 metres, or a walk of two minutes, from GBK, with a starting rate of approximately Rp1.099 million per night. Its proximity helps explain the appeal of accommodation in the immediate stadium area.
Other listed options within walking reach included Best Western Senayan, approximately 850 metres or 12 minutes away, from Rp770,000 per night. The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta was listed about 1.9 kilometres away, or a walk of 26 minutes through an internal route, from around Rp1.3 million.
Sawana Suites was listed roughly two kilometres from GBK, with an estimated walking time of 30 minutes and rates beginning around Rp910,000. Those figures give visitors a way to compare price against the amount of walking involved.
The quoted starting prices serve as reference points; actual rates and availability for a particular concert stay depend on the booking date and room selected. Stadium access arrangements also matter because a hotel's distance from the GBK complex and the route to a ticket holder's entrance can differ.
For visitors choosing between nearby properties, the practical trade is straightforward: spending more for proximity may reduce the need for a vehicle after the performance. Staying farther away gives fans a broader accommodation search, with travel time becoming another part of the decision.
A dated price check shows a wider range
A June 10 check on Tiket.com for the December 26 to 27 stay found starting prices from Rp385,770 to Rp1,495,422 per night across five properties in central and southern Jakarta. This provides a dated snapshot of the choices fans faced months before the concerts.
The listed rates were:
- Daima Norwood Hotels in Cikini: from Rp385,770 per night.
- Hotel Neo Tendean Jakarta by Aston: from Rp620,028 per night.
- Studio One Thamrin Hotel: from Rp1,336,379 per night.
- MK House Tendean: from Rp1,344,579 per night.
- Citadines Sudirman Jakarta: from Rp1,495,422 per night.
Citadines Sudirman's listed starting price was about 3.9 times Daima Norwood's, using Rp1,495,422 and Rp385,770 respectively. The Rp1,109,652 difference per night shows how widely accommodation costs can vary within the same concert period.
Location and facilities also varied. Daima Norwood was listed about 700 metres from Cikini railway station. Citadines Sudirman, an apartment hotel with 253 rooms, was listed about 4.4 kilometres from the stadium.
Hotel Neo Tendean and MK House Tendean had estimated driving times to GBK of approximately 15 and 16 minutes respectively. Concert traffic can lengthen those journeys, so visitors choosing a property beyond walking distance need to include the journey to and from the stadium in their plans.
Holiday travel adds a second source of demand
Artotel is hoping collective leave days and possible flexible working arrangements, including working from home, will allow people to take longer holidays. Eduard presented those arrangements as factors that could help Christmas and New Year become a peak period for hotels.
The group has yet to provide a firm occupancy forecast for the holiday period. Eduard said many year end reservations arrive close to the stay date, leaving the company to monitor bookings as the season approaches.
Hotels therefore face two booking patterns at once. Concertgoers may reserve early to secure a location close to GBK, while other holiday guests make decisions much later. Artotel's full property near the stadium is one immediate result of demand tied to a specific event.
Singapore offers a nearby example of BTS travel extending beyond performance nights. The announced Singapore fan programme runs from December 1 to 31 around four National Stadium concerts on December 17, 19, 20 and 22, with music, art and themed experiences at attractions across the island.
Jakarta's dated concerts follow four days after Singapore's final scheduled performance. For Jakarta hotels, the immediate business opportunity is the overlap between stadium visitors, the teams preparing the shows and travellers arriving for Christmas and New Year.
