Jeonghan and Joshua's DREAMSCAPE Sells 804,949 Copies in First Week, Tops Hanteo Chart

A major opening week for SEVENTEEN's new duo

SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and Joshua sold 804,949 copies of their debut unit mini album, DREAMSCAPE, during October 19 to 25, taking first place on Hanteo Chart's weekly album ranking. The sales tracker reported the result on October 26, following an opening day that had already set a sales record for a K-pop unit album.

The seven track release sold more than 650,000 copies on October 19 alone. Its momentum extended to Japan, where it led Oricon's Daily Album Ranking on October 20 and 21, and to China, where it topped QQ Music's overall Digital Best-Seller Albums chart.

The duo, known as JxJ, now moves from album promotion toward a concert tour covering six cities. Three opening shows at Inspire Arena in Incheon, scheduled for October 30 through November 1, sold out during fan club membership presales. The concerts will also be streamed live.

For the two singers, the release creates room for something different from their roles in SEVENTEEN's lineup of 13 members: longer vocal passages, individual songwriting choices and a concert built around their partnership. Their commercial debut also comes with an important distinction. DREAMSCAPE set a record for first day unit sales, while its first week total sits below the 887,000 copies previously recorded by fellow SEVENTEEN members S.Coups and Mingyu.

What the sales figures show

Hanteo's opening week measurement covers the first seven days after release. In this case, that period began on October 19 and ended on October 25. Pledis Entertainment announced the 804,949 total and weekly chart victory on October 26.

More than 650,000 of those copies were sold on release day, meaning the first day accounted for more than 80.7 percent of the entire opening week. Fewer than 154,949 additional copies were sold across the following six days. The figures show how heavily purchases were concentrated at the start of the release.

The previous first day record for a K-pop unit was 600,000 copies, set by S.Coups and Mingyu. Jeonghan and Joshua exceeded that benchmark by more than 50,000 copies, an increase of more than 8.3 percent.

The first week comparison tells a different story. Jeonghan's earlier unit with Wonwoo sold about 780,000 copies with its 2024 debut, before S.Coups and Mingyu raised that benchmark to about 887,000. DREAMSCAPE's 804,949 copies fall between those two totals. Its confirmed achievements are the new first day unit record and the No. 1 position on Hanteo's weekly album chart.

Japan and China add to the chart momentum

DREAMSCAPE reached No. 6 on the Worldwide iTunes Albums chart and topped iTunes Top Albums rankings in six regions, including Japan. Pledis also cited No. 1 positions on Japan's LINE Music real time Albums Top 100 and China's QQ Music overall Digital Best-Seller Albums chart.

Japan delivered another result through Oricon, whose Daily Album Ranking placed the release first on October 20 and October 21. Those consecutive daily victories followed the album's October 19 launch.

The chart names describe different measurements. Hanteo's figure is an album sales count, while Oricon's cited result is a daily ranking. QQ Music, LINE Music and iTunes provide rankings within their respective services. Together, the results show the release reaching listeners through several markets and platforms, with a numerical sales total supplied for Hanteo's opening week.

12 o'clock brings the dream concept to the screen

The title track, "12 o'clock," reached No. 34 on the Worldwide iTunes Songs chart. Its music video surpassed 10 million views and appeared on YouTube's Daily Popular Music Videos charts dated October 19 in South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The song blends dance rock with disco and funk influences from the 1970s and 1980s. Its title connects two moments that share the same clock position: noon, associated with pursuing goals while awake, and midnight, associated with the imagined worlds of sleep.

The video carries that idea into distorted train carriages and rooms with no apparent exit. Those settings give a visual form to the album's central subject: the meeting of unconscious fantasy and ambitions in ordinary life.

Joshua, a member of SEVENTEEN's vocal team, described the intended experience in an interview about the release.

"We just really wanted the whole album to feel like a journey between traveling through dreams and reality," Joshua said.

The performers also built choreography around their chemistry. Joshua said the song was intended to become more enjoyable when heard together with its performance, while Jeonghan said fellow SEVENTEEN members encouraged them after hearing it before release.

Finding a sound between strong and subtle

JxJ is SEVENTEEN's seventh unit and the first project constructed entirely around Jeonghan and Joshua. A unit is a smaller act formed from members of a larger group, giving those performers space to develop a particular sound or partnership.

The two met as trainees and previously recorded "Falling for U" for SEVENTEEN's 2018 special album, Director's Cut. DREAMSCAPE takes that shared history further, with an entire release and tour centered on them.

Joshua said the company first proposed the collaboration. The singers then discussed how to present sides of themselves that had received less attention during full group activities. They initially had different ideas about the music: Jeonghan favored a stronger presentation, while Joshua wanted something more restrained and mature.

Joshua explained how those preferences shaped the eventual title track.

Eventually, we met at the middle and came out with the song '12 O'Clock,' which is right in the middle between strong and subtle.

The choice followed three or four candidates for the lead single. During development, one candidate moved from a house arrangement toward a band sound. The final selection brought the duo's contrasting preferences into the same song.

Seven tracks, with room for individual choices

DREAMSCAPE opens with the house track "Like You," moves through R&B and soul, and closes with the raw band sound of "No Looking Back." Jeonghan and Joshua describe the seven songs as parts of one story rather than isolated pieces.

Joshua took part in both writing and composing his solo track, "Not Personal," an alternative rock song. He also contributed lyrics to "No Looking Back." Jeonghan co-wrote the lyrics for his own solo, the electro house track "Coloring." Those credits give each singer a distinct creative role within the shared album.

Joshua had been producing songs and submitting them to the company before the unit project took shape. He said that process helped the company understand his personal musical taste. Some music the pair worked on was left off the final track list.

Jeonghan said he was struck by how firmly Joshua had developed his ideas about their musical direction. Joshua, in turn, discovered how much thought Jeonghan had already given to the concerts and to presenting their abilities onstage.

The album's range serves its story about dreams and reality. Different styles allow the singers to move between moods, while the opening and closing tracks give listeners a clear beginning and end to that journey.

A return to recording and a different vocal approach

Jeonghan described DREAMSCAPE as his first new music since completing South Korea's mandatory military service that summer. During his absence from group activities, he sometimes watched SEVENTEEN perform from the audience alongside Carats, the group's fans.

His return carried a personal aim as well as a professional one. Jeonghan said the consideration and warmth he experienced during service were feelings he wanted to bring into the music. He also described the project as a chance to present himself as a more mature artist.

Inside the recording studio, Jeonghan experimented with a fuller vocal tone and different approaches across the songs. Joshua said he studied his own voice to develop a more mature sound.

The smaller lineup changes how much listeners hear from each singer. Joshua explained that his passages in SEVENTEEN can be brief because vocal parts are shared across many members. With just two performers, the album gives both voices more time and makes their individual choices easier to hear.

SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015, and all 13 members renewed their Pledis contracts that summer, marking a second renewal by the full group. The duo project gives Jeonghan and Joshua a separate creative space while their work remains rooted in the larger act.

Six cities follow the album launch

JEONGHAN X JOSHUA JOURNEY INTO [DREAMING] opens with three concerts at Incheon's Inspire Arena from October 30 through November 1. Tickets were exhausted during fan club membership presales, meaning the opening engagement sold out before a general sale could broaden access.

The tour will also visit Saitama, Macau, Taipei, Busan and Hong Kong. The Incheon concerts will be streamed live, giving fans another way to watch the opening performances. Dates for the remaining five cities were not specified in the announcements described here.

The release and performance schedule has moved quickly:

  • October 19: DREAMSCAPE was released and sold more than 650,000 copies on its first day.
  • October 19: The title track's video appeared on YouTube's Daily Popular Music Videos charts in five countries.
  • October 20 and 21: The album ranked No. 1 on Oricon's Daily Album Ranking.
  • October 25: The first sales week ended with 804,949 copies sold.
  • October 26: Hanteo's opening week result and the weekly chart victory were reported.
  • October 30 to November 1: The duo is scheduled to open its tour with three Incheon concerts.

A Seoul pop-up store celebrating the release also saw its tickets sell out upon opening. Alongside the concert presales, that response shows demand extending beyond purchases of the album itself.

What the pair wants to build next

Joshua has left the duration of JxJ open, saying he wants to see how fans respond before deciding where the partnership goes after this album. Jeonghan sounded more confident that the preparation had revealed further possibilities for the duo.

Their immediate plans remain concrete: promote DREAMSCAPE, develop its performances and take the songs to six cities. The combination of solo tracks, shared songs and a dedicated tour gives them several ways to explore the partnership in front of audiences.

Joshua also said making the album strengthened his interest in creating personal music. Beyond recording, he is taking acting classes and hopes to pursue an acting project.

Jeonghan placed his focus on continuing to make music for the fans already supporting them. The first week has given the duo a large commercial opening. The tour now provides the next setting for the vocal and performance choices they developed while making DREAMSCAPE.
