The Weeknd Opens Three Bangkok Stadium Shows With Creepy Nuts and a Giant Golden Robot

Three nights at Rajamangala anchor the Asia finale

The Weeknd opened a three show run at Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium on October 11, 2026, bringing Japanese duo Creepy Nuts and a roughly 12 meter golden robot sculpture to one of the final stops of his After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour. The Bangkok engagement runs through October 13, within an Asian schedule that expanded from 11 to 17 performances after strong ticket demand.

Live Nation Tero's Bangkok event listing confirms October 11, 12 and 13 at Rajamangala, with The Weeknd as headliner and Creepy Nuts as the support act. Originally announced as a single October 11 concert, the stop grew into three consecutive stadium nights.

The production combines music from After Hours, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow with Japanese sculpture, costume design and automated stage machinery. Creative Director and Show Director La Mar C Taylor oversaw the presentation, whose central image is a towering figure designed by artist Hajime Sorayama.

The Bangkok shows also bring together two stories about the tour's scale: continued demand for The Weeknd's stadium performances and a chance for Creepy Nuts to reach audiences beyond their established Japanese and anime music following. Reports put the global tour above $1.2 billion in ticket revenue, although published totals differ on how many performances that figure covers.

How Bangkok fits into the regional schedule

The Asian leg visits seven cities: Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. It follows a tour that began in 2022 and traveled through North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Latin America and Australia.

The principal dates around Bangkok show that the Thai concerts are part of the final stretch, rather than the tour's last engagement:

  • May 18 to 21, 2026: Bangkok ticket presales and general sales were scheduled.
  • June 3: Creepy Nuts announced guest appearances on the Asian leg.
  • September 19: The Asian leg began in Tokyo.
  • October 2 and 3: Singapore concerts featured Creepy Nuts.
  • October 7 and 8: Two South Korean concerts took place at Goyang Sports Complex.
  • October 11 to 13: The Bangkok stadium run.
  • November 4 and 5: Kuala Lumpur concerts, with November 5 listed as the Asian leg's closing date.

One advance Bangkok guide described an October tour finish, while the regional itinerary places the ending in Kuala Lumpur on November 5. The November dates are also given in the announcement of Creepy Nuts' appearances. Descriptions of Bangkok as the tour's conclusion therefore need to distinguish the final regional leg from its actual final show.

The golden robot combines sculpture and machinery

Sorayama's sculpture stands approximately 40 feet, or 12 meters, above the stage. Craftspeople in Toyama, Japan, sculpted its polystyrene foam form by hand, with a gold colored aluminum finish giving the lightweight structure a metallic appearance. Laser lighting in the eyes and smoke effects from the hands turn it into an active part of the show.

The figure develops an earlier chrome robot used in 2023, which stood about seven meters tall. At 12 meters, the newer sculpture is approximately five meters taller, an increase of about 71 percent. Reports also describe it as capable of rotating, with production company TAIT supplying automated engineering systems.

Accounts of its construction differ in detail. One describes foam finished with gold colored aluminum; another describes hand carved foam followed by casting and several layers of gold coating. Both describe a fabricated stage sculpture, not a solid gold object.

The robot has been interpreted as a mixture of machine, ancient relic and object of worship, with its gold surface suggesting an idol. That reading connects the small human performer beneath a monumental figure to the risks of celebrity worship. It is an interpretation of the imagery, rather than a documented explanation from Sorayama or The Weeknd.

The partnership extends beyond this tour. The Weeknd and Sorayama reportedly began collaborating in 2021 on a music video identified as Echoes of Silence, a project described as taking two years to make. Their work together has also included XO merchandise and collectible toys.

Japanese designers shape the performer as well as the stage

The Japanese creative contribution continues through The Weeknd's masks, accessories and clothing. Tetsuya Nakamura designed masks and stage accessories, later developing masks and armor with Sorayama for the 2026 tour. Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME created custom outfits for the artist.

These commissions connect the sculpture's metallic figure with the performer's changing appearance. Taylor's role as both creative director and show director places the visual design within the larger sequence of music, lighting, dancers and stage effects.

The immediately preceding South Korean concerts provide a documented example of that staging. At Goyang Sports Complex, masked dancers lined the stage before The Weeknd appeared on an extended platform shaped like a cross. The same 12 meter golden robot stood at the center, while lasers, fire effects and illuminated audience wristbands accompanied the performance.

Three albums provide the musical framework

The tour is built around After Hours (2020), Dawn FM (2022) and Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025), while drawing on songs from earlier periods of The Weeknd's career. Bangkok performance accounts identify Starboy, Sao Paulo, Sacrifice, I Feel It Coming, Save Your Tears and Die for You among the songs featured.

An advance guide reproduced a 38 song list attributed to an earlier Rajamangala performance and a concert setlist database. It began with Baptized in Fear, Open Hearts and Wake Me Up, and included After Hours, Heartless, The Hills, Out of Time and Blinding Lights. House of Balloons and Moth to a Flame appeared near the end.

That list is useful as an indication of the repertoire, but it is not a verified record for all three October 2026 Bangkok shows. It also accompanied a claim that this was the tour's second Bangkok visit, whereas other descriptions presented the Asian leg as the first arrival of its full production in the region. Those accounts do not establish the date or production details of the earlier Bangkok appearance.

The South Korean performance offers a firmer recent comparison. It opened with Baptized in Fear and included Open Hearts, Wake Me Up, After Hours, Heartless and Blinding Lights. The reported performance covered roughly 40 songs over two hours, spanning R&B, synthesizer driven pop, electronic dance music and the Brazilian funk rhythms of Sao Paulo.

Creepy Nuts turn guest sets into a wider introduction

Creepy Nuts comprise rapper and lyricist R-Shitei and DJ and composer DJ Matsunaga. The duo debuted in 2013 and signed with Sony Music Entertainment Japan in April 2017. Their music has featured in Call of the Night, DAN DA DAN and Mashle: Magic and Muscles, giving many listeners an introduction through anime theme songs.

At The Weeknd's Singapore concerts on October 2 and 3, they performed sets lasting about 40 minutes. Songs included Biriken, Bling-Bang-Bang-Born, Yofukashi no Uta, Mirage and Otonoke. Those performances offer an indication of their recent live repertoire, rather than a confirmed Bangkok running order.

Speaking in an October 5 interview, R-Shitei explained how a brief meeting with The Weeknd in Japan led to the invitation:

"At the beginning of this year, we had a chance to meet him in Japan. It was a very brief meeting and we talked for a bit. At first, it was really just that," recalled R-Shitei.

Then a few months after that, he asked if we wanted to be part of his Asia tour. We were surprised.

R-Shitei said he had worried that many people would not know the duo and that language differences would make audience interaction difficult. After Singapore, he said the audience had welcomed them. Their Bangkok appearances cover all three nights, with further guest performances scheduled in Kuala Lumpur.

The tour arrives while Creepy Nuts work on new music

For Creepy Nuts, the support slot is also an opportunity to build an audience for future shows of their own. R-Shitei described the stadium appearances as a way to reach people who had never heard them, as well as listeners who recognized their songs but had not seen them perform.

The duo released Running Wheel in August. R-Shitei described it as a continuation of Fright, moving from anxiety about performing overseas toward the satisfaction of having taken their music to unfamiliar audiences.

He also said they had made progress on two songs before arriving in Singapore and were continuing work on an album. Describing that process in the October 5 interview, the rapper said:

Right now, I'm at the stage where I'm constantly thinking about our new music. When I'm just strolling around Singapore, I'm thinking about lyrics. The album is truly in-progress at the moment.

No album release date was given. The stadium tour therefore reaches the duo during an active writing period, rather than accompanying an announced album launch.

Revenue totals differ, but demand is substantial

ThaiTicketMajor's official tour announcement states that the tour had sold more than 7.5 million tickets across 153 performances and generated more than $1 billion. It describes After Hours Til Dawn as the highest grossing tour by a solo male artist.

Reports surrounding the Bangkok opening give higher totals: more than $1.2 billion across 176 dates, again with more than 7.5 million tickets sold. These figures may reflect different reporting stages, but no dated reconciliation establishes that. The difference is 23 performances, while the published ticket figure remains at the same rounded threshold.

The reported 2026 European and UK run generated more than $345 million across 42 stadium dates and attracted more than 2.3 million attendees. Dividing those minimum totals by 42 gives averages above $8.2 million in revenue and 54,700 attendees per show.

Regional demand is also visible in South Korea. All 108,000 tickets across the October 7 and 8 shows sold out, with 54,000 available each night. General sales in May reportedly took 35 minutes to sell out, with peak simultaneous users reaching 1.3 million. Each show's ticket allocation was 2.25 times the approximately 24,000 attendance at The Weeknd's 2018 Korean concert.

ThaiTicketMajor also states that donations to the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen had reached $8.5 million. The announcement identifies Tour of the Year at the 2026 iHeartRadio Awards and Best R&B Tour at the Pollstar Awards among the tour's honors.

Tickets and arrival details need careful checking

Reports differ on Bangkok ticket availability. An advance guide said October 11 and 12 were sold out but October 13 still had tickets. An account of the opening also said tickets for the final night remained available through ThaiTicketMajor and the venue box office. A separate report described all three shows as sold out. Without a common publication time or an official inventory update, those claims cannot be reconciled.

Listed standard ticket prices ranged from 2,835 to 5,225 Thai baht, with VIP zones from 11,935 to 21,935 baht. Gates were listed as opening at 5 p.m. for the remaining date, with The Weeknd expected onstage around 7:50 p.m. and an estimated finish between 10:30 and 11 p.m. These were planning estimates, not confirmed performance times.

A Bangkok merchandise pop up was announced for October 1 to 13, but its location had not been announced in the guide. Merchandise stands at Rajamangala and a collection service were also described.

The reported venue rules allowed small handbags, pouches and cloth totes, while bags larger than approximately A4 size risked rejection. Restrictions covered outside food and drink, professional cameras, detachable lenses, tablets, recording accessories, drones, umbrellas, weapons and glass or metal containers. Large signs and noisemakers were also prohibited. The guide warned that vapes and electronic cigarettes were banned and could carry legal risks in Thailand.

Social media complaints remain unverified

Alongside discussion of the music and production, posts after the Sunday opening alleged that suspected human waste had been discovered in the standing area near the stage. The claims circulated widely, but there was no independent confirmation of who was responsible or how the material came to be there.

Other posts alleged cigarette and cannabis smoking inside the stadium. Some attributed the behavior to foreign attendees, but the identities and nationalities of the people allegedly involved were not independently verified. Those claims should not be treated as established facts about particular concertgoers.

No confirmed organizer response, security finding or medical account accompanied the allegations. They remain separate from the confirmed dates, lineup and production details, and do not establish conditions across the whole stadium or all three performances.
