Tzuyu Brings Sheer Black Style to Singapore F1 as Williams and DAN DA DAN Prepare 2027 Theme Song

A striking Singapore appearance with a musical purpose

TWICE member Tzuyu brought a sheer black trouser outfit, meetings with Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, and a forthcoming anime collaboration into the spotlight during Singapore's Formula 1 race week. Her photographs of the black ensemble drew more than 550,000 likes overnight, while her visit introduced fans to a project whose main musical release is still ahead: an official theme song and music video for Atlassian Williams F1 Team and DAN DA DAN, expected in early 2027.

The Taiwanese singer's schedule extended beyond a fashion appearance. She joined a public event at Marina Square on October 8, discussed the collaboration at a press conference on October 9, and attended Grand Prix activities during the October 9 to 11 weekend at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Williams also released footage of her sitting inside a blue F1 car on October 11.

Williams formally announced her involvement on September 28, 2026. Its theme song announcement said she would record and perform the official song for the team's collaboration with the Japanese anime. The partnership had already launched at the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix, introduced merchandise and the Sector Zero fan platform, and appeared at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.

That sequence makes Singapore a new stage of an existing project rather than the launch of the entire partnership. Tzuyu's role adds music to a venture that already connects racing, anime characters, clothing and public fan experiences. Her closely watched wardrobe supplied an immediate visual attraction, but the song and accompanying video are intended to give the collaboration a longer life beyond race week.

The black outfit that drew attention

At the collaboration press conference, Tzuyu wore a black outfit combining a high neckline with sheer fabric across the chest and midriff, trousers, and cutouts at the sides of the waist. With her long hair pinned up, the look presented a more mature contrast to the relaxed clothing she wore elsewhere during the trip.

She shared a series of photographs of the ensemble on social media, attracting more than 550,000 likes overnight. That figure captures the response at a particular point after publication, not a final engagement total. She also wore the outfit while meeting Williams drivers Sainz and Albon.

The black ensemble was one of at least six looks described across a concentrated three day schedule. Other appearances included Louis Vuitton clothing, a blue outfit for the Fan Zone and a top paired with a denim skirt for her October 10 circuit visit. These were separate appearances, rather than competing descriptions of a single outfit.

Louis Vuitton looks and Williams blue

Tzuyu departed South Korea through Incheon Airport on October 7 in a Louis Vuitton Back To School ensemble: a violet flocked denim jacket over a white high neck top, a grey wool pleated miniskirt and Donna calf suede tall boots. The school inspired styling differed sharply from the sheer black press conference look.

During the Singapore visit, she also wore a Monogram cardigan with a glossy leather effect A line miniskirt, identified as pieces from Louis Vuitton's 2026 autumn and winter Flight Mode collection. Another outfit, identified with the 2026 High Summer collection, paired a pale yellow tweed cropped jacket and matching miniskirt with black tall boots.

For the October 8 Marina Square appearance, a light blue top and denim pieces reflected Williams' familiar blue identity. Reports also described clothing connected to the Williams and DAN DA DAN collaboration. Together, the outfits moved between luxury fashion and the team's own visual language without turning every appearance into a racing suit presentation.

A project discussed since January

The public announcement came in September, but Tzuyu said her involvement had been under discussion since January 2026. In Williams' Singapore paddock interview, published October 10, the singer explained why the combination appealed to her.

I've been talking about this collaboration since January of this year," she said. "Despite these three very different worlds – music, F1 and anime – I think there is something in common, which is passion, creativity and courage.

Her description identifies the project's central idea without revealing how the finished track will sound. Williams described the song as joining the team's speed with the supernatural energy of DAN DA DAN. Tzuyu called the concept "speed meets supernatural" and said the music video would surprise fans.

The distinction between an announcement and a release matters here. Although some accounts described her discussing the song she had sung, Williams' October 10 interview still described the theme song as being recorded and yet to come. There was no confirmed public premiere during her Singapore appearances.

Why the partners chose a shared audience

The October 9 press conference at Ballroom @ Frasers Collection brought Tzuyu together with Luke Timmins, Williams' merchandise and licensing director; Sayako Niimi, Sector Zero's director leading global partnerships; and Tassei Shimoie, consumer product manager at MBS for TV Anime DAN DA DAN. Their explanations placed fan participation and merchandise alongside the music.

Timmins said the appeal lay in the passionate audiences surrounding all three fields. In the September announcement, the Williams executive set out the team's aim:

Having TZUYU join us is a really exciting step forward for this collaboration, and another opportunity for us to push the boundaries and reach millions of new fans beyond our sport and around the world.

That is a statement of ambition, not a measured result. The social media response to Tzuyu's outfit shows attention around her appearance, but it does not establish how many people became racing fans or bought collaboration merchandise. No audience conversion figures or sales totals were disclosed.

Niimi said the idea began when her team visited the Singapore race two years earlier and saw racing alongside fashion, music and city life. Sector Zero was conceived as a place where those interests could meet. Singapore's night race offered a fitting setting for that approach, bringing the collaboration into both the circuit environment and a public shopping mall.

From a public stage to the cockpit

At Marina Square, Tzuyu greeted fans in English and described the visit as her first formal participation in an F1 event. Her schedule also included selfies and clay activities with Albon and Sainz, giving fans an informal view of the drivers away from competition.

Williams' October 10 interview recorded her saying she had never watched an actual F1 race in person. Reports subsequently described her attending the circuit that day to watch the action. These accounts fit a first Grand Prix visit, although attendance on October 10 should not be confused with the full weekend, which ran through October 11.

The cockpit footage released on October 11 showed the singer sitting inside a blue Williams car and filming herself. In that video, Tzuyu introduced herself and expressed her excitement:

Hello, I'm Tzuyu!"

"I'm in the race car!

Sitting in the cockpit is different from driving an F1 car, and the reported footage does not establish that she drove it. In her Williams interview, she had separately said she would like to try the driver's seat if offered a lap in a car with two seats.

Her visit also changed what she noticed about racing. Tzuyu, speaking about the crew she saw in the paddock, described an appreciation that went beyond the drivers:

I realised that they really need the power of teamwork to bring everything together," she said. "I think that's very impressive.

Turbo Granny connects the anime to speed

DAN DA DAN, adapted from Yukinobu Tatsu's manga, follows teenagers Momo and Okarun into encounters with ghosts, aliens and supernatural powers. Momo believes in ghosts but not aliens, while Okarun holds the opposite view. Their efforts to prove each other wrong provide the starting point for the story.

For Tzuyu, Turbo Granny offered the most direct connection between that world and racing. Asked in the Williams interview which character she would bring into the garage, the singer chose the spirit associated with supernatural speed:

Definitely Turbo Granny, because her supernatural power is speed. If I had that speed, I could meet fans all around the world.

The character, described as capable of reaching 100 kilometres per hour, had already appeared alongside Tzuyu at the Marina Square Fan Zone. Her answer turned the idea of speed into something connected to her own work: travelling to audiences rather than competing for a lap time.

The collaboration also introduces Kokone, a mysterious figure featured in new merchandise. Williams described Kokone as an anomaly from Tzuyu's journey into speed and the supernatural. Niimi declined to explain the figure fully at the press conference, leaving its role in the wider story undisclosed.

What fans could experience in Singapore

The Williams Fan Zone presented by Kraken at Marina Square offered free admission, with reported opening hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through October 13. Its attractions included a display of the FW48 car's paint scheme, interactive experiences, collaboration apparel and Singapore exclusive merchandise.

The closing date extended the public activation two days beyond the October 11 end of the Grand Prix weekend. That gave visitors a separate opportunity to encounter the project without treating a circuit appearance by Tzuyu as the only point of access.

Her promotional schedule also included an interview for Japan's Saturday Plus television programme, associated with MBS and TBS. Elsewhere around the circuit, CORTIS and Stray Kids member Felix appeared during race week. Coupang Play carried the event live in Korea for a fourth consecutive year and was described as holding exclusive Korean F1 broadcast rights.

Those appearances show that Tzuyu was part of a wider entertainment presence in Singapore. Her Williams role was more specific, however: it involved an announced musical contribution to an ongoing partnership, rather than attendance alone.

The timeline and the release still ahead

The principal dates trace the project from a racing and anime partnership to Tzuyu's public involvement:

  • January 2026: Tzuyu said discussions about her participation were already under way.
  • 2026 Japanese Grand Prix: Williams and DAN DA DAN launched their collaboration.
  • September 28, 2026: Williams announced Tzuyu as the voice of its official collaboration theme song.
  • October 7 to 9: She departed Incheon, appeared at Marina Square and joined the Singapore press conference.
  • October 10 to 11: Williams published its paddock interview, followed by the reported cockpit video release.
  • October 13: The Marina Square Fan Zone was scheduled to close.
  • Early 2027: The song and music video are expected before the Japanese Grand Prix, described in reports as taking place in April.

There is a small timing inconsistency in the initial announcement: the September 28 Williams statement said Tzuyu would join the Singapore Grand Prix "next week", while the detailed event reports place the race weekend on October 9 to 11. The dated Singapore appearances provide the more precise account of her visit.

The song title, exact release date and full musical details have not been disclosed. Reports agree on an early 2027 release window, but the September announcement and October paddock interview do not give a specific premiere date.

A new assignment alongside TWICE

Tzuyu debuted with TWICE in 2015 and released her first solo EP, Aboutzu, in 2024. This collaboration adds a different assignment to those two roles: performing music built around a racing team and an anime property rather than a conventional group or solo release.

She described solo work as exciting but sometimes unsettling because she no longer has the other members beside her onstage. Tzuyu, reflecting on that difference during her Singapore interviews, said:

When I'm solo, I have to face everything by myself, so sometimes I get very nervous. But there are also many new challenges for me, and I find them very interesting.

Her preparation remains practical. She said she repeatedly watches choreography videos when learning dances, listens to recordings from vocal lessons when preparing to sing, and takes a throat candy before going onstage. Those details connect the ambitious promotional concept to the ordinary work of preparing a performance.

Singapore delivered the first public encounters, wardrobe attention and driver meetings. The next substantive test of the collaboration is the promised song and video, whose sound and story have yet to be revealed.
