Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 reached an estimated Rs 790.85 crore worldwide after 17 days in cinemas, with overseas ticket sales supplying more than a third of its earnings. Figures attributed to box office tracker Sacnilk put its total through Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Rs 520.35 crore gross in India and Rs 270.50 crore overseas.

The sequel, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, opened on October 15. By its third Saturday, it was Rs 9.15 crore short of Rs 800 crore worldwide and just Rs 50 lakh behind the estimated overseas lifetime earnings of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Its performance has prompted claims that it has become Tamil cinema's biggest worldwide earner, overtaking Rajinikanth's own 2.0, released in 2018. That ranking depends on the benchmark used: published lifetime estimates for 2.0 range from about Rs 699 crore to Rs 800 crore. Jailer 2's current figure exceeds the lower estimate and is approaching the upper one.

The figures also show a film moving beyond its opening rush. Collections fell during the second week, then rose sharply on the third Saturday. Its international earnings are already ahead of KGF Chapter 2, while its Indian business remains much smaller than Pushpa 2's.

What the Collection Figures Mean

Sacnilk's estimates put Jailer 2's India net collection at Rs 444.75 crore after 17 days. Net means ticket revenue after applicable entertainment taxes are deducted. Gross includes those taxes, which is why the India gross figure is higher, at Rs 520.35 crore.

Worldwide gross combines the Indian gross with overseas gross. Here, Rs 520.35 crore from India plus Rs 270.50 crore abroad produces the reported Rs 790.85 crore total. One crore equals 10 million rupees; Rs 790.85 crore is about Rs 7.91 billion.

These are approximate tracking figures that may change as collections are updated. A film's ticket revenue is divided among cinemas, distributors and other parties, so the worldwide total is different from the producer's income or profit.

How the Film Reached Its Third Weekend

Jailer 2 accumulated most of its revenue early. Its first eight days brought Rs 334.35 crore net in India, followed by Rs 95.55 crore during the second week. That puts roughly three quarters of its India net total through day 17 in the opening eight days.

The reported worldwide milestones show how quickly the opening business accumulated:

  • October 15: Jailer 2 opened in cinemas worldwide.
  • Day 3: Worldwide gross passed Rs 300 crore.
  • Day 4: Worldwide gross reached Rs 418.25 crore.
  • Day 6: Worldwide gross passed Rs 500 crore.
  • Day 8: Worldwide gross passed Rs 600 crore.
  • Day 11: Worldwide gross passed Rs 700 crore.
  • October 26, day 12: Worldwide gross reached Rs 733.35 crore.
  • October 31, day 17: Worldwide gross reached Rs 790.85 crore.

Between day 12 and day 17, the film added Rs 57.50 crore worldwide. India gross rose by Rs 42.50 crore over that period, while overseas collections increased by Rs 15 crore. The later stretch therefore relied more heavily on Indian cinemas than the opening period did.

A Saturday Rebound After the Weekday Slowdown

Jailer 2 earned Rs 9.35 crore net in India on October 31, a 70% increase from Friday's Rs 5.50 crore. Two days earlier, on October 29, it had earned Rs 5.90 crore, down 18.1% from the preceding day's Rs 7.20 crore.

The Saturday recovery came from 8,738 shows across India. Estimated ticket sales reached 692,764 that day, taking cumulative admissions to approximately 30 million. Admissions count tickets sold, including repeat visits by the same person.

Tamil screenings became busier as Saturday progressed. Their average occupancy, the share of available seats filled, rose from 17.46% in morning shows to 42.54% at night. Average Tamil occupancy for the day was 30.37%.

The second week had collected 71.4% less India net than the opening eight days. Those periods differ in length, but the totals still show how strongly the opening dominated the run. Saturday's improvement added fresh revenue after several quieter weekdays.

Tamil Leads, While Other Versions Add Reach

The Tamil version supplied Rs 6.70 crore of Saturday's Rs 9.35 crore India net collection, or about 71.7%. It played across 4,199 shows, fewer than half of the film's total screenings that day.

The Hindi version earned Rs 1.45 crore from 3,549 shows. Telugu screenings contributed Rs 90 lakh from 801 shows, while the Kannada version added Rs 30 lakh from 189 shows. Together, those three versions accounted for Rs 2.65 crore.

Hindi screenings averaged 15.28% occupancy, compared with 23.28% for Telugu. The Hindi version had a much larger number of shows, helping it earn more despite filling a smaller proportion of available seats.

By day 12, the Tamil version had earned Rs 284.95 crore net in India out of Rs 408.15 crore across all languages. That was approximately 69.8%, showing that other language versions were contributing about three rupees in every ten to domestic net revenue.

Four Southern Markets Support the Run

Tamil Nadu remained Jailer 2's largest individual Indian market. Through day 12, it had generated Rs 186.25 crore gross, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together at Rs 87.55 crore, Karnataka at Rs 82.75 crore and Kerala at Rs 71.85 crore.

Those four territories together supplied Rs 428.40 crore, about 89.7% of the film's Rs 477.85 crore India gross at that stage. The rest of India contributed Rs 49.45 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are counted together as one distribution territory in this breakdown.

Claims surrounding the film's Rs 75 crore milestone have used different categories. The geographical claim covers Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala; another tracking summary describes Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada language markets. The detailed regional figures place Kerala at Rs 71.85 crore after 12 days and above Rs 72.75 crore after 13 days, without giving a precise date when it passed Rs 75 crore.

On the third Saturday alone, Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 5.25 crore gross, Karnataka Rs 2 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rs 1 crore, and Kerala Rs 1 crore. Tamil Nadu accounted for 48.2% of the day's tracked India gross of Rs 10.90 crore.

Overseas Earnings Approach Pushpa 2

Jailer 2's Rs 270.50 crore overseas gross after 17 days exceeded KGF Chapter 2's estimated lifetime overseas collection of Rs 214.15 crore by Rs 56.35 crore. Its next close comparison was Pushpa 2, with approximately Rs 271 crore abroad.

The Rs 50 lakh gap to Pushpa 2 was small beside Jailer 2's latest daily overseas collection of Rs 3 crore. A confirmed updated total would determine when the sequel crossed that benchmark.

Pushpa 2 remained far ahead worldwide, with approximately Rs 1,742.10 crore gross, including Rs 1,471.10 crore in India. Its India net was about Rs 1,234.10 crore, against Jailer 2's Rs 444.75 crore after 17 days.

The useful comparison is where each film earned its money. Overseas cinemas supplied about 34.2% of Jailer 2's worldwide revenue, compared with 15.6% for Pushpa 2. Their overseas totals were nearly equal, while Pushpa 2's Indian gross was about 2.8 times Jailer 2's current domestic total.

A Substantial Lead Over Coolie

At the same point in its theatrical run, Rajinikanth's Coolie had earned Rs 276 crore net in India and Rs 499.40 crore gross worldwide. Jailer 2 was ahead by Rs 168.75 crore in India net and Rs 291.45 crore worldwide.

That represents an India net total about 61.1% higher and a worldwide gross about 58.4% higher at the corresponding stage. Overseas, Jailer 2's Rs 270.50 crore compared with Coolie's Rs 177 crore, a difference of Rs 93.50 crore.

The day 17 figures also show the gap in continuing demand. Coolie earned Rs 2.80 crore net from 3,998 shows, while Jailer 2 earned Rs 9.35 crore from 8,738 shows. Jailer 2 had approximately 2.2 times as many screenings and 3.3 times the daily net revenue.

The Distance to Rs 1,000 Crore

Distributor and financier Tiruppur Subramaniam has predicted that Jailer 2 will become the first Tamil film to reach Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. From its day 17 total, the film would need another Rs 209.15 crore, equivalent to about 26.4% of what it had already earned.

Subramaniam also expects the film to challenge Leo's reported Tamil Nadu distributor share record of Rs 117 crore. Distributor share means the portion of ticket revenue paid to distributors after cinemas retain their agreed amount. The collection figures listed here give Jailer 2's regional gross rather than its distributor share, leaving that comparison unfinished.

Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth with director Nelson after their 2023 film Jailer. Its cast includes Ramya Krishnan, SJ Suryah, Mohanlal, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mithun Chakraborty, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. For this sequel, the immediate box office milestone is Rs 800 crore; the larger Rs 1,000 crore target requires sustained business beyond its third weekend.
